Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained silent on updates for the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While co-head Chad Dezern confirmed the studio is working on "great projects with a really ambitious roadmap," details regarding Wolverine's release remain undisclosed. A 2025 release remains unconfirmed. Dezern emphasized the team's excitement but stressed the need to maintain secrecy.
Wolverine's Development History and Shared Universe
Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is confirmed for PlayStation 5. In 2023, Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed its shared universe with Marvel's Spider-Man, stating both games exist within the same continuity ("1048"). While fans anticipated crossovers, only a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") has appeared in Spider-Man 2 thus far. A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some Wolverine development assets to the public.
Insomniac's Current Projects and Future Plans
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game. The PC version will include all post-launch updates, including new suits and New Game+. Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available. Currently, Marvel's Wolverine is the only other confirmed Insomniac project in development.
