Rebel Moon Game Debuts on Netflix Amid Film Sequel Halt

by Jonathan Dec 29,2025

The video game spinoff for Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon, Blood Line, launches today as the future of its parent film series on Netflix remains unclear.

Subscribers may have been surprised to discover Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game available to play on mobile devices today. Developed by Super Evil Mega Corp, the studio behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate, this spinoff immerses players in the sci-fi universe Snyder introduced in 2023 with isometric, twin-stick shooter action.

An official description for Blood Line states, "Take on intense combat missions in this multiplayer action game. Build a rebellion against the Motherworld and fight for your planet’s freedom."

Playable solo or with friends, Blood Line features a standalone story distinct from the narratives of Rebel Moon Parts 1 and 2. Furthermore, Netflix Games and Super Evil Mega Corp commit to expanding and evolving the video game spinoff through regular post-launch updates. With more challenges and rewards to come, Blood Line's roadmap appears far more defined than that of its originating film series.

Rebel Moon: Part 1 – A Child of Fire debuted in late 2023, establishing Snyder's new world. Despite its presentation as a large-scale sci-fi epic, Part 1 failed to win over critics, earning a 22% score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a 56% audience score (we awarded it a 4/10 in our review). Rebel Moon: Part 2 – The Scargiver aimed to correct course upon its April 2024 release but met a similar reception, garnering a 16% from critics and 47% from audiences (we also gave it a 4/10).

Extended "Snyder Cut" versions of both films arrived on Netflix in August 2024, receiving a more positive audience response, yet Netflix has remained silent on the story's continuation. Snyder recently discussed his Netflix work in a Variety interview. While Rebel Moon and its characters are still on the director's mind, he indicated other projects are taking precedence.

“I got sidetracked into this — not sidetracked, it’s all uptown problems, as they say — for Netflix, I’m working on an LAPD SWAT movie,” Snyder explained. “So I was like, OK, well, I’m gonna just sort of let that Rebel Moon world simmer for a minute, and I’m gonna go do this. And frankly, it was a very exhausting, long process doing the two movies together. So it was nice to have a bit of a break from it. I love it like crazy, but it’s nice to have a bit of a break. So yeah, we’ll see after I finish this, when I come back, where we are with everything.”

Snyder added that the Rebel Moon universe holds "tons of stories" yet to tell, but he still needs to determine how, or even if, it will expand further.
