Honkai Star Rail 3.2: Banner System Overhaul Boosts Player Choice

by Finn Mar 14,2025

Honkai: Star Rail's gacha system is getting a major overhaul, giving players more control over their character pulls. Leaks suggest version 3.2 will introduce a customizable pity system for limited banners, a significant change to how the gacha works. Instead of the standard 50/50 pity pull from a fixed pool, players will choose their preferred characters from a curated selection.

According to leaks from Sakura Haven, the 3.2 update replaces the current 7-character standard pity pool with a customizable "Group." Players will select seven characters from this expanded group to form their personalized 50/50 pity pool. This means losing the 50/50 will now reward a character from *your* chosen pool, not the default one.

Initially, the "Group" will include the seven standard characters plus a selection of additional characters. This allows players to strategically prioritize characters they want, reducing the frustration of unwanted 50/50 outcomes and aligning rewards with player preferences and playstyles.

While details on the selectable characters are scarce—it's unclear whether past limited characters, current banner units, or entirely new additions will be included—the change is a significant step towards a more player-centric gacha experience. MiHoYo is directly addressing common gacha complaints by prioritizing player agency.

This customizable pity system could set a new precedent for gacha game design. While the full impact remains to be seen, the community is buzzing with anticipation for the Honkai: Star Rail 3.2 launch.
