Ubisoft Unveils Customization and Progression in Assassin

Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting new article that dives deep into the gameplay features of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, with a particular focus on the equipment and progression systems for the game's protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe. A feature that is sure to thrill fans is the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade, which remains a cornerstone of the Assassin's Creed experience.

Both Yasuke and Naoe will have unique skill trees that cater to their individual combat styles. Yasuke, as a samurai, will have access to specialized techniques that reflect his martial prowess, whereas Naoe's tree will emphasize the stealth and agility inherent to a shinobi. Players can allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities or to refine their fighting techniques, offering a personalized approach to character development. Mastery points, which are crucial for progression, can be earned by tackling open-world objectives or by defeating formidable enemies such as the Daisyo samurai.

To ensure that both characters develop at a balanced pace, Ubisoft has designed the game so that neither Yasuke nor Naoe lags behind the other. Unlocking the most potent abilities often involves completing specific tasks, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Furthermore, progression is also tied to a "Knowledge" scale, which players can advance by engaging in activities like studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks an entirely new skill tree, adding depth and variety to the gameplay.

The equipment system in Assassin's Creed: Shadows is another highlight, with items categorized into five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players will have the opportunity to upgrade their gear at a blacksmith, and they can also customize the visual appearance of their equipment. Special perks attached to armor and weapons can significantly alter gameplay dynamics, offering strategic choices that can affect how players approach combat and exploration.

The return of the Hidden Blade is a testament to the series' roots, with the ability to instantly dispatch enemies with a single, precise strike. This feature will undoubtedly be a fan-favorite, adding a thrilling layer of tactical assassination to the game.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set to launch globally on March 20, and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, promising an immersive experience that combines rich storytelling with innovative gameplay mechanics.
