In a recent interview, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, former lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, shared that CD Projekt Red initially questioned whether a sweeping narrative could seamlessly integrate with an open-world structure.

"Few titles have ventured to merge the depth of storytelling typical of linear RPGs, like The Witcher 2, with the freedom of an open-world setting," Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz
Despite early concerns that the story’s ambition might conflict with the open-world format, CDPR’s bold approach resulted in one of the most acclaimed RPGs ever created—The Witcher 3. Today, Tomaszkiewicz heads Rebel Wolves, working on The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark fantasy RPG set in an alternate medieval Eastern Europe, centered around vampires. The Blood of Dawnwalker is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series platforms, with a gameplay reveal planned for this summer, though no official release date has been confirmed.
