Stellar Blade: No Multiplayer Mode Yet, Files Suggest Online Features

by Hunter Oct 26,2025

Claims that modders uncovered a hidden multiplayer mode in Stellar Blade are misleading, according to the player who shared a viral split-screen gameplay video on social media.

Recent reports suggested that Stellar Blade developer Shift Up embedded a dormant multiplayer mode in the game, but the modder who posted a two-player clip on Discord clarified this is untrue.

"I woke up to my Discord clips being shared out of context, which is why I avoided posting them on X/Twitter," PhantomSomnus wrote. They explained that "split-screen mode is a feature of Unreal Engine, not created by [Stellar Blade developer] Shift Up."

PhantomSomnus used Unreal Engine's built-in local multiplayer support to load a second Eve into the game, creating the split-screen effect seen in the video. "I tried setting up split-screen to test functionality, but it didn’t work as shown," they noted on Reddit.

"There are hints of multiplayer in the game," PhantomSomnus acknowledged, "but they’re limited to online functionality." A prior post included a screenshot showing remnants of an "old, unused PVP multiplayer mode" found in the demo’s backend, though it’s non-functional with only "some leftover menus."

Will Stellar Blade see a multiplayer update or mod in the future? "Highly unlikely," PhantomSomnus stated.

The PC version of Stellar Blade launches on Steam June 11, featuring PC-exclusive enhancements like Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3 AI upscaling, unlocked framerate, Japanese and Chinese voiceovers, ultrawide support, high-resolution textures, and DualSense compatibility for haptic feedback and triggers. Initially region-locked in over 100 countries, it’s now available for pre-order in "over 250 regions."

IGN’s Stellar Blade review scored it 7/10, noting: "Stellar Blade excels in core action elements, but flat characters, a weak story, and flawed RPG mechanics keep it from ranking among the genre’s elite."
