The highly anticipated single-player action game, Lost Soul Aside, has faced a delay of three months, pushing its release date from May 30 to August 29, 2025, as announced by its developer, Ultizero Games. After a decade in development, the game was initially set to launch next month on PC and PlayStation 5. However, Ultizero Games has decided to postpone the release to late August to ensure additional polish and meet the high standards they've set for themselves.
"We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," stated Ultizero Games. "We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience. To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a major Sony-published title under the company's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of the Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen his initial vision grow significantly. IGN recently had the chance to sit down with Yang Bing to discuss the lengthy journey to launch. The game's development escalated from a solo creator's vision to a trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, building hype along the way. Some have praised Lost Soul Aside as an exciting blend of Final Fantasy characters and Devil May Cry combat, especially since Yang Bing's initial reveal video went viral in 2016.
In Lost Soul Aside, players control the main character, Kesar, who wields a shape-shifting weapon that allows for different playstyles. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to support him in battle. The game draws inspiration from its predecessors, focusing on aerial dodging, precision timing, combos, and countering, as well as large-scale boss fights. It combines a sci-fi premise with various contemporary aesthetics, taking players across multiple dimensions. While the trailers leave much of the story's direction unclear, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."
