Capcom's latest release has surged to the 6th spot among Steam's most-played games, yet it faces significant backlash due to its technical shortcomings. Digital Foundry's in-depth analysis of the PC version has highlighted several critical issues that have left players and critics disappointed.

One of the primary concerns is the lengthy shader pre-compilation process. On a system equipped with a 9800X3D processor, it takes approximately 9 minutes, while on a Ryzen 3600, the wait extends to over 30 minutes. This is a substantial delay that impacts the gaming experience right from the start.

Texture quality is another area where the game falls short. Even when set to "High" graphics settings, the textures appear substandard. For instance, on a PC with an RTX 4060 running at 1440p resolution with balanced DLSS, there are significant frame time spikes. The situation doesn't improve much with more powerful hardware like the RTX 4070, where textures still look extremely poor despite the increased memory capacity.

For those using GPUs with 8 GB of memory, Digital Foundry recommends reducing texture quality to "Medium" to alleviate stuttering and frame time spikes. However, this compromise does not resolve the visual quality issues entirely. Rapid camera movements continue to cause noticeable spikes, though these are less severe with slower camera movements. Even with low-quality textures, the frame time problems persist.

Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry attributes these issues to inefficient data streaming, which puts excessive strain on the GPU during decompression. This is particularly detrimental for users with budget graphics cards, leading to sharp frame time spikes. As a result, Battaglia advises against purchasing the game for those with 8 GB GPUs and expresses reservations about its performance even on more powerful systems like the RTX 4070.

The game's performance is even more dismal on Intel GPUs. The Arc 770, for example, only manages to deliver 15–20 frames per second, accompanied by missing textures and other visual artifacts. While high-performance systems can mitigate some of these issues, the game still struggles to run smoothly. At present, finding optimized settings that maintain visual quality is nearly impossible, often resulting in significant compromises.
